Writing On Demand
By Bob Dennis

Various projects in the entertainment industry require music and audio production. A singer who had a hit record needs a follow-up release and an additional "B Side" as well as other tunes to fill out an album. A singer who never had a hit needs one. A movie needs a theme song and background music to  establish certain moods throughout the film.  The foreign auto company needs music in its commercials to attract a certain type of buyer and paint an image about the model in the advertisement.

The vast majority of the music that you will listen to will be written on demand.  In other words it was written because music was needed for a project.

Music On Your Closet Shelf

Writers tend to write music if there is a project or if there isn't a project.  Sometimes a project is suggested and music is written for the project but the project is abandoned and therefore the music sits on the shelf, rather than being released.
