Put It In The Want Ads
1970: Barney
Perkins had to leave early that day because he had to pick up
a check for $6,000. This "songwriter royalty" check was
in addition to his weekly wage as a recording engineer for HDH
Sound Studios. He had, from the engineer's chair, earned
the position of being 1/6 writer on a gold award tune, Gonna
Put It In The Want Ads by the Detroit Female Soul group, The Homeycone. The record was the first of four gold records
that the girls would earn in the early seventies. |
