Several years ago I wrote an article called "The Right Steps On The Road To A Hit" which outlines the steps of creating and then marketing a CD product.  Each year the staff of DAP and I have updated this article because your marketing and promotional techniques need to constantly update as the music industry continues to go through tremendous changes.  In the January 2005 the next update of this article will post.  This article previews some things we will talk about. - Tom Gelardi

So far we have covered the initial requirements of getting the sales copies of your music release marketed.  Last Tip we talked about the importance of having good imagery (photos & designs) that you can use in the packaging and promotion of your release in addition to manufacturing tips about the sales copy and initial promotional pieces you will need.  These things are ideally done well in advance of the release date.  In this tip we talk about activities needed around the time of the release date, about the time you start consigning product into the retail outlets.
