Being "in time" is one of the most important parts of musicianship and music production.  If a tracvk id cut with the drummer speeding up, slowing down and hitting parts early or late, you pretty much have to scrap that track and rerecord. But even if you pay to a "perfect time" drum machine the other parts that are recorded live have to be in time or you just get a mess of a production tht doesn't sound good.

Having the timing of the music is probably even more important than the singer being in tune.  Frank Sinatra and many well-selling singers often sang flat - people loved them anyway.
