RID INTERNS WELCOME AN OUT OF TOWN ENGINEER
By Bob Dennis
ADMINISTRATOR, RECORDING INSTITUTE OF DETROIT

February 25 - 28, 2004 Ann Arbor Michigan's Musart Productions brought recording engineer/producer Regis form Audio Kreme Studios, Cleveland Ohio into Golden Section Studios, Eastpointe, Michigan for review and initial mixing of a live recording project that he had recorded at "Rhythmfest 2003" at Nelson Ledges in N.E. Ohio. Many world-renowned  percussionists gathered with other musicians for a music and spirit festival in September, 2003 in tribute to the late Grammy award winning African drumming Guru, Babatunde Olatunji.

Waiting at the studio to welcome the session was RID interns Eric and Dustin.  Eric was to second engineer for Regis and help him access the right menu items for setting up the parameters and automation on Golden Section's 02R console.  Dustin was to assist with the loading, unloading and setup of the gear brought in from Ohio especially for this project as well as more general assistant engineer duties.

Four days later the production company had achieved basic mixes and mixing parameter settings of the first half of the more than 600 minutes of 24 track ADAT recordings captured at the Rhythmfest. Here are some picture that we took of the event.
