ALEXANDER MAGAZINETM

2002 First Issue

VOL III - ISSUE 1 - February 10, 2002

From The Editor

In order for our new readers to sample the depth of training articles we have, we are beginning a program where select intermediate and advanced articles are accessible each issue for the period of the current issue.  At the top of each page there will be a notice of how long it will be available.  By the next issue date only paid subscribers will continue to get access.  To take full advantage of reading these "timed" articles, you should register as an REQ free subscriber.
In anticipation of the Spring, we are doing a lot of house cleaning at Alexander Magazine.  Maybe I should use the phrase site-cleaning.  I get the distinct impression that readers don 't like typos and broken links.  It seems like we have more than our share of these annoyances.  In addition to having Shawn-e Brown, our art and production assistant editor, check for and repair these problems, shortly we're installing a report form so that you can report site problems directly to her.  In the meantime, feel free to e-mail me.
In addition to things that don't work right, we have many pages that look like a rank amateur laid them out.  That's because a rank amateur did - yours truly in 1996 & 1997.  We're busy making many of these more pleasant to view as well as updating content.  Some of the content of this issue comes from some of these articles that we found - articles that weren't well linked or indexed and needed some updating.
Seeing as its cold outside, we decided on a theme of micing for this issue, although our feature article is an in-depth study of how to set compression parameters.

In addition to the posted articles, our first study module, Pro Audio Specialist is now ready for use with additional lessons, as well as additional content and illustrations.  Enjoy.  - Bob
