002 - THE MASTERING LIMITER
Mastering With Dynamics Series #1
A big objective for the mastering process is to get impact (loudness) while still retaining a good amount of clarity. In this article Bob Dennis introduces you to the first of  the  dynamics techniques you can use to attain loud clarity; these techniques  are often used on gold and platinum releases.

Many mastering engineers may reach first for a "mastering limiter" that will increase apparent loudness (i.e., loudness to the ear) in the quest of getting impact in the final product.   I've used the following brands of loudness hardware/software to date, and here's MY rating on how usable each is in getting a good loud the on the master.  I also show setup and discuss use of my favorite such programs.
