| Lesson 27: Downloading and Installing AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) |

Aside from getting an AOL account, it is possible to download just the Instant Messenger, and have your AOL screen name at absolutely no cost. Of course, this function is limited as far as what you have access to, but has its uses. For instance, when I feel like going into a chat room for a while, I turn on my away message to prevent constant interruptions from those pesky AOL members who like to invite chat room members to visit their "adult content" site. I keep AIM open while I'm in a chat room, and only the people who know my AIM screen name can contact me. |

| 18. Type in the screen name you would like to use. |
| 19. Type in a password. |
| 20. Confirm your password. |
| 21. Type in your e-mail address. |
| 22. Use the drop down menus and the text box to indicate your Birth Date. |
| 23. Click the "Submit" button to see if that screen name is available. |

| 24. Use the drop down menu to indicate your gender. |
| 25. Type in your Zip/Postal Code. |
| 26. Use the drop down menu to select the country you reside in. |
| 27. Click the "Submit" button to register your information. |

| 28. Click "Continue" on the the Confirmation screen. |

| 29. Click the "Launch AIM!" button for your log-on screen. |
|
|
| 30. Use the drop down menu to select the appropriate Screen Name, and type in the password. |
| 31. Place checkmarks into the corresponding boxes, if you would like for AIM to log you in automatically. |
| 32. Click the "Sign On" button to log on. |
|

| 33. Click "Next" to begin the Quick Overview. |
|

| 34. Click Next, after you have read the text. |
|

| 35. Click Next, after you have read the text. |

|

| 37. Click Next, after you have read the text. |

| 38. Click Next, after you have read the text. |

| 39. Click "Finish" to complete the installation wizard. |
