Lesson 24:  Changing Active-X Settings
Have you ever noticed you went into a website and suddenly that website is your homepage?  ActiveX scripts can do different things such as run banner ad graphics, or they can do nasty things to your computer like change your defaults or having your computer send a ping to hackers.  To prevent this just do the following:

1. Open Internet Options by right clicking on the Internet Explorer icon, and selecting Properties.

2. In the Tools menu, select Internet Options...

3. Go to the Security tab, and select the Internet icon, which looks like a globe, and click the Custom Level button.

4. A Security Settings box will open, with ActiveX controls and plug-ins as the first header.  Select the following choices.
Download signed ActveX controls Prompt
Download unsigned ActiveX controls Disabled
Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe Disabled

5. Click OK to accept the changes.
Pro:  Your computer will be much safer after you make these changes.

Con: You will be prompted on sites like Yahoo, who carry a lot of banner ads, and will stop the downloading process until you accept or reject the prompt.
