| Lesson 4: Downloading and Accessing Attachments | |||
| In this lesson, I will ask you to download an attachment, and then access the downloaded file. Although AOL is user friendly (easy to understand and use), there are still some areas that need to be addressed. Downloading e-mail attachments can be confusing to those new to the internet. If you have already downloaded some attachments, and can't find them, this lesson will most probably reveal the mystery of the lost files. | |||
This lesson is in two parts. Part A covers how to download a file from AOL. Part B discusses the procedure for viewing or accessing that file at a later time. |
| To Download an Attachment: | |||
| 1. Double click the e-mail that contains the file to download. | |||
| 2. Click on the button that says Download, and then select Download Now. | |||
| 3. Use the Save in drop down menu to navigate to the desired destination folder and click on the Save button. | |||
Note: If you do not specify the folder, it will automatically be downloaded to the download folder of America Online. |
| To access your download at a later time: | |||
| 4. From your desktop, find the icon for My Computer and right click. Select the Explore option. | |||
| 5. Select Drive C by clicking on it. | |||
| 6. Open the America Online folder that corresponds to the version of AOL you were using when downloading your file, if you did not select a specific destination folder. These directions will take you to the default folder AOL uses. | |||
| 7. Open the download folder, and locate the file you downloaded. | |||
