| Lesson 1: Enabling your computer to accept Java Script |
| Java applets are self-standing programs that many sites use. A couple of examples would be online greeting cards and online games sites. Setting your browser to "Enable" Java Script allows more freedom on the internet, with a larger variety of sites that can be accessed by your computer. |
| 1. Click on Settings on the AOL toolbar, then select Preferences. |

| 2. Click on Internet Properties (WWW):. |
|
|
| 3. Click on the Security tab. |
|
|
| 4. Select the Internet icon, then click on Custom Level. |
|
|
| 5. Scroll down to "Scripting of Java applets" and select Enable, then click on OK to change the security settings for this zone. |

| 6. Close the dialog box by clicking the OK button. |
| 7. When asked about changing the security settings, click the affirmative button. |
| 8. Click on OK to close the Internet Properties window. |
| 9. Click on the X in the upper right corner to close the AOL Preferences window. |
| 10. Reboot your computer to complete this process. |
